Buy the River: Southern Style is an ode to Southern living

When most people think of Southern style, they think of culture, refinement and class. People dress up for church on Sundays, wear button-up shirts and jackets to dinner and sport freshly-pressed polos to the country club.

Southern Style, a new specialty shop at 823 Broadway in Cape Girardeau, mixes a refined Southern look with the carefree resort wear that is popular this time of year. I spoke with Megan Parker, who gave me insight on her shop's perspective, inspiration and offerings for the summer.

__Q: Hi, Megan. So, what is your position at Southern Style?__

__A:__ I am the manager of the location, and my parents are the owners.

__Q: What type of style is reflected in your store?__

__A:__ The style is beach and cruise wear as well as a preppy-type style. That is what the customer who comes here is looking for.

__Q: What was the inspiration behind calling the store 'Southern Style?'__

__A:__ We called it Southern Style because we wanted to cater to that Southern style of living.

__Q: What are your best sellers?__

__A:__ The Southern Tide T-shirts are by far our best sellers!

__Q: Are there any new offerings for summer coming to Southern Style?__

__A:__ We are bringing in Southern Marsh and lots of new Southern Tide shirts.

__Q: Do you have any special events we can look forward to?__

__A:__ Yes, we are very busy with Father's Day, and we have a storewide sale starting soon.
