Father's Arms church features guest speaker
The Rev. Ron McKinley of Jackson will be the guest minister Sunday at 10 a.m. at Father's Arms Fellowship, 1400 Main St. in Scott City. McKinley is a native of Scott City and graduated from Rhema Bible Training Center in Tulsa, Okla., in 1976. His message, "Breakthrough," aims to inspire and revitalize faith in this new year. A continental breakfast and fellowship will begin at 9:30 a.m.
Churches have new music directors
GriefShare group to meet Wednesday
GriefShare, a Christian-based grief recovery seminar and support group for those who have lost a loved one in death, will meet at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in the education building of St. Paul Lutheran church in Jackson. The topic this week is "God's Prescription for Grief."
Women's luncheon set for Monday at Elks
Christian Women's Club will have a luncheon, inspirational speaker and music from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday at the Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau. There is a cost. The public is welcome to attend.
'Singspiration' planned at First General Baptist
A "singspiration" will begin at 6 p.m. Sunday at the First General Baptist Church, 1812 Cape LaCroix Road, featuring the New Beginnings Quartet. Piano recitals will be offered by the Rev. Dean Jaggers, pastor at First General, and the Rev. Luther Rhodes of Jackson. A free will offering will be taken. The public is invited to come.
This week's schedule at First Baptist Church
At the 10:45 a.m. Sunday morning worship, the Rev. Mike Shupert will deliver the final message in the series "The Power of a Changed Life," titled "The Result of a Changed Life." Next week begins a new series: "Jesus Did What?" with the first sermon from John chapter 9, "Jesus Heals a Blind Man." On Wednesday there will be Bible study with Dr. Ron Winstead on Luke chapter 7.
Revival planned at First Pentecostal
First Pentecostal Church of Cape, 3054 Lexington Ave., will have a revival with speaker Harold Shepherd from Doniphan, Mo. Shepherd's wife, Connie, is a recording artist formerly of the McGruders. They will minister at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday, 7:30 p.m. Monday and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Everyone is invited to attend. There will be a nursery for all services except Sunday morning. Super Church Sunday will be held at 11 a.m. for ages 5 to 9.
