An Eagle Court of Honor was conducted by Boy Scout Troop 224 of Scott City on Nov. 3. Two Scouts were honored for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout. Myron "Trey" Bond Carter III has been in Scouting since August 2000. He is a junior at Scott City High School. He has completed 31 merit badges in pursuit of his Eagle rank. Carter's Eagle project was building a privacy fence for the Women's Safe House in Sikeston, Mo. Adam Conald Bowers has been in Scouting since August 2000. He is a senior at Scott City High School. He has completed 26 merit badges in pursuit of his Eagle rank. Bowers' Eagle project was to build a bathroom and storage closet in the basement of Eisleben Lutheran parish hall, where the troop meets.
Arlysse Popp was co-recipient of the 2011 Human Rights Award, which was presented by Church Women United at their World Community celebration held in November. Popp has been an active volunteer in her church, 4-H, Cape Girardeau Board for Developmentally Disabled, Special Olympics and at Southeast Hospital. She was nominated by Joan Seabaugh. Miki Gudermuth of SADI was presented the award earlier in the fall.
Local makes dean's list at Logan College of Chiropractic
Scott Dunaway of Cape Girardeau was named to the dean's list at Logan College of Chiropractic at the end of the college's summer trimester.
