Army National Guard Spc. Trey D. Maevers has graduated from One Station Unit Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. The course of instruction included basic military training and advanced individual training. Maevers earned distinction as an honor graduate. He is the son of James Maevers of Jackson and Deborah Maevers of Cape Girardeau. He is a 2006 graduate of Saxony Lutheran High School in Jackson. He earned a bachelor's degree in 2010 from the University of Missouri at Columbia.
Cape Girardeau Central High School boys basketball player Vance Toole was the recipient of Southeast SportsCare's second annual Sportsmanship Award. The award, which was presented at the 2011 Southeast Missourian Christmas Tournament, recognizes a student who displays success on the court, in the classroom and in the community. In acknowledgment, SportsCare donated $250 to Toole's athletics department.
