Blue Man Group to perform in Carbondale

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- The Blue Man Group will perform at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at Carbondale's SIU Arena as part of their "How To Be a Megastar Tour 2.1." In the tour, the Blue Man Group concentrates on the arena rock concert experience. Arts council to feature river art, photography

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will display a project directed by Centerville, Mo., woman Pamela Kugel-Rolls and photography by Anniston, Mo., artist Teresa Gemeinhardt during September. Rolls is the artistic director of the River Rhythms project, which integrates narratives of families and individuals who live or grew up along a river into an art exhibition. Gemeinhardt will have a separate exhibition of her photography. A First Friday opening reception will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 7. For more information, call the arts council at 334-9233.

MercyMe to perform at Black River Coliseum

POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Popular Christian pop band MercyMe will perform in support of its upcoming album, "All That Is Within Me," at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at the Black River Coliseum in Poplar Bluff. The groups Shane and Shane and Monk and Neagle will open. For more information, call (573) 686-8001.

Fair accepting entries for art, photo contests

KENNETT, Mo. -- Kennett's annul Delta Fair is now accepting entries for its art and photography contests. Entries must be received no later than Sept. 23. Jackson to host classic rock, Motown concert

The Jackson Parks and Recreation Department will host a classic rock and Motown concert by Transitions, a group led by Pat Schwent. The concert will begin at 6 p.m. Sept. 9 at the Jackson City Park band shell. The concert is free, and the public is invited. For more information, call Schwent at 243-3740.

Thurman will have solo show in September

Local artist James Thurman will have a solo exhibition of his work from 6 to 10 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Buckner Brewing Co. Riverview Room. Much of the exhibit will be made up of new pieces.

Sedgewickville Fun Fest takes place Sept. 1

SEDGEWICKVILLE, Mo. -- Sedgewickville will host its annual Fun Fest from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sept. 1 in downtown Sedgewickville. Events include a mule jump, sand volleyball tournament, children's tractor pull and a car, truck and motorcycle show. Live music and refreshments will also be available.
