McGinty returning for local shows this month

Cape Girardeau native Foster McGinty will return to Cape Girardeau for two concerts, July 24 and 25 at Port Cape Girardeau. McGinty moved to New York City to pursue a music career in October, and will soon release his first album, "State of Mind Music Box," recorded at Electric Ladyland. River City Players to present 'Greater Tuna'

The River City Players Community Theater will present its next dinner theater production, "Greater Tuna," July 20 and 21 and July 26 through 28 at Port Cape Girardeau's River City Yacht Club. "Greater Tuna" is a comedy about life in Texas' third smallest town, centering at the local radio station. Dinner starts at 7 p.m. with shows at 8 except July 26, which is a show-only date starting at 7 p.m. For more information call 334-0954.

'Iron City' open now at Saint Louis Art Museum

ST. LOUIS -- The 10th installation of the Saint Louis Art Museum's New Media Series, "The Iron City," is now on display. The installation, created by artist Matthew Ritchie, is a viewer-activated digital animation being premiered at the museum, and takes viewers on a observation trip of a postapocalyptic city landscape. Ste. Genevieve County Fair starts Wednesday

STE. GENEVIEVE, Mo. -- Ste. Genevieve will host the Ste. Genevieve County Fair Wednesday through July 15 from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the County Fairgrounds. Columbia to host bluegrass festival

COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Hazel Kinder's Lighthouse Theater in Columbia will host its second annual Bluegrass Festival and Band Contest Wednesday and Thursday. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, with a bluegrass band contest Thursday from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Bands performing during the festival include Bob and Barb Lewis, Ironweed, Arlington, The Link Family, the Bluegrass Brigade, the Missouri Mountain Gang and the Bob Lewis Family.
