POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- Patrons at Jim & Jerry's Restaurant Pub in downtown Poplar Bluff raised $2,700 for the Animal Welfare Alliance (AWA) while rooting for their favorite dogs in the televised Westminster Dog Show. Plans for the funds include spaying and neurtering programs. The group has begun staffing the Poplar Bluff Animal Shelter on alternating Saturdays to increase adoptions of the animals there. Upcoming dates are March 7 and 21. AWA volunteers and donors also have bought beds for the shelter animals. For more information visit www.awasemo.org.
