This little moth is only about an inch and a half across its wings. It is a common native summertime moth in much of North America. Its name is Chickweed Geometer.
Larvae worms of the chickweed geometer feed mostly on chickweed, short smartweed and clover. Pink lines across this moth's yellow wings make it easy to identify. The adult male has feather-like antennae.
August and September are good months to see the Chickweed Geometer. Leave an outdoor light on for a little while and you may attract this moth along with other kinds of moths.
