Saying goodbye is never easy.

But here I am, saying it: "goodbye."

Not that I'm really going anywhere, but you'll be seeing a lot less of me starting next week.

For three years I've been the go-to guy for arts and entertainment news in Cape Girardeau and the surrounding area, but that time is coming to an end. This is the last issue of SE Live in which I'll hold the dubious title of "editor."

Sure, now you're thinking, "What did Sanders do?" Nothing bad, I assure you.

I've been asked to help carry the Southeast Missourian's online operations into the, er, 21st century. Actually, we're already well on our way, and our hope is to become a one-stop online shop for local information. Stay tuned, and go to semissourian.com.

You'll still see me contributing my "flavor" to SE Live, and you'll still see me every now and then on my blog, Shaking Off Daylight.

But now you have a go-to girl for arts and entertainment, and her name is Chris Harris. She's friendly, smart and good at what she does. Artists, musicians, others -- you'll enjoy working with her and you'll enjoy what she brings to SE Live.

But I want to say it's been real and it's been fun. These past three years have really been a bright spot in my life, getting to know the multiple talented, creative people that live in Southeast Missouri. The relationship may have been rocky at times between them and me, but overall I think we had a pretty good thing going.

Thanks to everybody who has read my coverage over the years and stuck with me. It's been great working with you.

And next time you see me out, it will no longer be as the dreaded arts critic/entertainment journalist. Instead, I'll just be another guy enjoying music, drinks, art, whatever.

See you downtown!
