The art has been judged, the results have been tallied, and the winners have been announced in the annual Student Juried Art Exhibit in the River Campus Art Gallery. The art exhibit, which opened April 4 and will end April 25, produced 12 awards and two honorable mention. The juror this year was Patti Chalmers, ceramics professor at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.

The exhibit shows work of students enrolled in Southeast's Department of Art. Pieces of work from each type of studio area are featured in the exhibit — painting, printmaking, fiber arts, ceramics, sculpture, 3D, graphic design illustration and new genre.

The days when art was just drawings or statues are gone. Now, art is across the board. New genre art, for example, is art that blurs the lines between art and real life, usually involving some sort of performance art like video. Each piece of artwork tells a tale, shares a story and entices the eye.
