SEMO District Fair announces grandstand lineup

The theme and performance lineup for the 2016 SEMO District Fair, which will be from Sept. 10 through 17 at Arena Park, were announced Thursday.

The theme of “Enough Fun for the Whole Herd” reflects the diverse and family-friendly activities at the annual event, according to a news release.

The lineup for the grandstand includes the following:

• Auto Tire & Parts Dual Demo Derby, 7 p.m. Sept. 10
• Mouser Steel Heartland Barrel Racing, 1 p.m. Sept. 11
• River Radio’s 16th annual Heartland Idol, 7 p.m. Sept. 12
• Contemporary Christian artist Lecrae, presented by KHIS Radio at 7 p.m. Sept. 13
• Country band Old Dominion at 8 p.m. Sept. 14
• Classic country Oak Ridge Boys at 8 p.m. Sept. 15
• Xcaliber/Bootheel Pullers Hot Rod Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. Sept. 16
• ITPA / Bootheel Pullers Hot Rod Tractor Pull at 7 p.m. Sept. 17

The annual fair parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. Sept. 10 from Capaha Park. Preregistration for parade entries now is open.

Elsewhere at the fair, Agriland, first introduced in 2014, has been expanded with interactive displays, agriculture educators and brand representatives on hand to help with the message of “More to Food Than a Grocery Store.”

Special promotions continue this year with “Two for Tuesday” on Sept. 13 and “Thrifty Thursday” on Sept. 15, featuring discounts on entry-gate fees, carnival rides and fair foods.

Tickets for grandstand events will be available at www.semofair.com and at the fair ticket office beginning July 21. All advance ticket purchases include free entry-gate admission.
