Crystal Wagner's installations will encompass the entire gallery when she exhibits her work in the Crisp Museum at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus.
"Crystal Wagner: Immersion" opens Nov. 7. Wagner will present an artist's talk at 6 p.m. Thursday. An opening reception is planned from 4 to 8 p.m. Nov. 7. The exhibit runs through Jan. 25.
Wagner creates mixed-media installations through a combination of different processes, including screen printing, intaglio etching, relief printmaking, drawing, intricately cut paper, collage, cable ties, paint and mylar, and tar paper.
Wagner is an assistant professor of art at Georgia College and State University, earned a bachelor's degree at the Atlanta College of Art and a master's at The University of Tennessee.
In graduate school, she wrote and self-published a book, "Crimson Sky." The story, which is about self-discovery and survival, explores the human condition.
Wagner also has participated in artist residencies. Her work has been accepted into several national juried exhibits and has been showcased nationally and internationally.
In April 2008 and March 2010, she was a featured emerging artist on Juxtapoz magazine's website. In the summer of 2010 and winter of 2012, she was featured on the cover of Graphic Impressions magazine.
