"Nathan Pierce: Transition Spaces 15.1" will be displayed beginning Tuesday in the Crisp Museum at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus.

The public is invited to an opening reception from 4 to 8 p.m. Sept. 4, with an artist's talk at 6 p.m. The exhibit will be on display until Oct. 25. Admission is free.

Pierce is artistically led to construct pieces that convey his personal beliefs about communication and perception, according to a news release from Southeast. Inspired by the fabrication process, his expertise in construction lends to his dedication to create form with structural steel, brick and other difficult materials, the release stated.

"The examination into the roles we play and the quality of our own personal relationships is the intention of these forms," Pierce said in the release. "These devices may be tangible evidence of how communication succeeds or fails in our own lives and in the lives of others. It is difficult to discern whether they are from the future or the past."
