WHAT'S GOING ON!

Forget April showers bringing May flowers, May ushers in some serious music entertainment to the Cape Girardeau region. There is huge variety of music for every listener, some new artists, some groups that have come back into town for a visit, and some dynamic local artist who have kept live music going for many years.

Broussard's kicks off the month with 'SouthPaw' on May 7 & 8; while across the street, The Rude Dog Pub brings in 'Moxxie Roxx' to liven up the weekend. Also on Saturday May 8th, The Port Cape Yacht Club features 'Salsa Des Cargo'. 'Denny & Paula Reeves' will play at The Grace Cafe on Friday May 14; and, '13th Floor' come into town at Our House on Saturday, May 15th.

The weekend of the 21st & 22nd brings some major bands to the area. 'Sippy & the Assassins' rock out The Rude Dog both nights; and over at Broussard's, 'The Melroys' tear it up. On the last weekend of the month, Our House brings on 'Metal Mayhem III' to the Cape; while many other artists perform around the area.

It's great to live in an area where musicians can maintain a loyal following every year. Check out 'Bruce Zimmerman & the Water Street Blues Band' at The California Juice Bar on Wednesdays and then again Thursdays & Sundays at Port Cape. Also playing out this month is 'Acme Blues' , May 14 &15, at Broussard's. These guys are a class act.

I am impressed with the quality and quantity of music groups that perform in this area on a regular basis. Let's make sure this situation remains that way by going out, enjoying the music, and supporting the businesses that support music entertainment in this area.
