LOS ANGELES -- Phyllis Diller was still cracking jokes as she turned 90 -- even after cracking her back.

"I still take the Pill 'cause I don't want any more grandchildren," Diller joked.

It's one of the age-related jokes the comedian had planned to dish out Tuesday during a birthday appearance on NBC's "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno."

But Diller fractured a bone in her back last week by twisting while lifting a heavy item, she said.

She had to postpone her appearance, but the late-night talk show sent her a get-well bouquet of white roses.

Three events were planned for her birthday, including a Tuesday dinner and a party for 50 people Saturday.

But Diller won't be doing any routines. She's using a wheelchair while recovering and "you can't do standup sitting down," she said.
