Starting next week, hundreds of students from area high schools will have a chance to display their artwork in the 28th annual High School Art Symposium. The symposium begins Sunday with an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Southeast Regional Museum. About 110 works have been chosen for the show and will be on display at the museum until Feb. 19...

Starting next week, hundreds of students from area high schools will have a chance to display their artwork in the 28th annual High School Art Symposium.

The symposium begins Sunday with an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Southeast Regional Museum. About 110 works have been chosen for the show and will be on display at the museum until Feb. 19.

Those pieces were chosen from almost 1,000 entries from 36 high schools in the region.

Categories include sculpture, painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, fibers and ceramics.

At Sunday's reception, show juror Dr. Paul Hemmerla will present awards for Best in Show and Distinguished Merit, accompanied by scholarship offers to attend Southeast.
