Free 'Make Music Day' festival coming June 21

NEW YORK -- More than 35 U.S. cities will be hosting "Make Music Day," a free, one-day, outdoor festival celebrating music and music-making.
The annual event is June 21.
Performances -- from classical to punk rock -- will be held in streets and parks and on porches and plazas.
Highlights include Sousapaloozas in New York, Chicago and Cleveland.

It also features "Mass Appeals" in which musicians of all levels make music in large, single-instrument groups.
In New York, composer Philip Glass will play the piano in Riverside Park, along with 19 public-school students.
Other cities participating include Los Angeles; Boston; Nashville; Seattle; Philadelphia; Detroit; Denver; Washington, D.C.; St. Louis; Chattanooga; and Minneapolis/St. Paul.
The festival began in France in 1982. It has spread to 120 countries.
