William Scobie, who studied violin at Southeast, has released a CD of easy listening favorites. "Echoes of Dreams" includes five of Scobie's own transcriptions for violin and piano. Scobie is a member of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra and performs as a recitalist.

His professional career began with the Saint Louis Little Symphony in 1958. He later became the assistant concertmaster of the Tulsa Philharmonic Society and was the leader and first violinist of the Tulsa Philharmonic String Quartet. After serving as an assistant professor of music at Millikin University and conductor of the Millikin Civic Orchestra, he was appointed to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra.

While at Southeast he studied with Fritz Heim, then concertmaster of the university orchestra.
