Hunter Valley Winery

Local artist Jim Parker will display stitchery in the Grape View room at the winery just north of Cape Girardeau. Parker has a long history in the arts as a curator, painter and artist. Reception from 5 to 9 p.m.; artwork on display during winery hours in October.

Edward Bernard

The glass gallery has teamed up with Primo Vino to support breast cancer research by featuring wines from vineyards that donate part of their proceeds to the cause, raffling off Riedel wine glasses and donating a portion of sales to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Black Door Gallery

See the works of the 11 art teachers from public schools in Cape Girardeau. The group will display more than 30 works in painting, sculpture, fibers, mixed media and more. Reception from 5 to 9 p.m.

Aartful Rose

Photography by Perryville native Bob Krone and acrylic, original works by his mother, the late LaVerne Krone, will be on display for the First Friday reception in October.

Crisp Museum, River Campus

Enjoy a reception for "Jeanie Eddleman: Transition Spaces 10.2," the featured artist in the walkway at the Crisp Museum. The sculpture, drawings and paintings of Jun Kaneko will also be on display.

Garden Gallery

The gallery and shop will debut ceramic artwork by Denny Lumos and Linda Bohnsack. The artists will be present with their works until 9 p.m.

River Campus Art Gallery

The opening reception for "Sara Ood: Like Seed to Soil and So On," part of a larger body of garden and soil-related works by Ood. Reception for these botanically themed pieces will be from 5 to 7 p.m.

Humane Society

In a special exhibition, Rochelle Steffen will display "Furry Friends Art Showing" in the lobby at the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri. A portion of the sale of her various art work will benefit the animal shelter. Reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m.

New works from consumer artists. The gallery will be open until 9 p.m.

Arts Council of Southeast Missouri*

Faculty and students from Southeast Missouri State University will display work in the joint exhibition "Surface." Faculty members Benjie Heu, Kristin Nowlin and Chris Wubbena will show work alongside students Liz Coffey, Tyson Schoolfield and Kyle Triplett.

* The River City Music Festival will close Main Street from Independence Street to Broadway starting at 6 p.m. today but will not charge First Friday patrons an admission to the festival grounds. Galleries on Main Street will still be free to enter, however people wishing to enter a music venue must return to the gates and purchase a music festival ticket for $8.
