With a theme similar to "War of the Roses" and an ending out of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid," the movie never hit a high point for me. "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" was cute in places, had some of the same ol' shoot 'em up shots (but not overly violent), but sadly, I left the theater yawning. I believe more hype given to the off-screen chemistry between the two actors is driving the movie's success. There really was no chemistry between them in the movie itself.

Two-and-a-half stars (out of four)

"Mr. & Mrs. Smith," staring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, started out a bit slow for me, but the action does pick up eventually. I thought the plot was a bit corny -- it was like "War of the Roses" meets "I Spy."

Vince Vaughn played the wacky sidekick and he really does a good job. I found myself laughing in every scene he was in. But as for the performances by Pitt and Jolie, I thought they left much to be desired.

The action and stunts in the movie were impressive, and they do make up in some way for the weak storyline. If you're looking for some mindless action, this is the movie that you should go see. If not, I would just wait for this movie to come out on video.
