Three and a half stars A combination of U.S. forces and intelligence made this movie pretty exciting. Although a movie with adults in mind, a few teens may find "The Core" enjoyable. Not much of a date movie, but I would suggest to get a group of friends together to go to see "The Core." It is scary to a certain point, in the beginning you see all these people keel over and you have no idea why. The United States military collects two scientists to start with, and the problem is narrowed down to a magnetic force in the core of the Earth. Then, slowly, the military finds the smartest people in the world to help save the planet. This group of scientists, astronauts and engineers must build a ship in three months to tunnel into the Earth to restart the center core. These people gave themselves selflessly. Of course, there are the Hollywood cliches, no matter what happens they come out on top. But I think if this really were to happen, people would sacrifice themselves to save the world.

There were no pranksters in this movie but the characters did feed off of each other when it came to teasing. Quite a few puns were used and were actually funny. A lot of the story line was filled with facts that I remember from school, so I don't feel two hours dumber for having watched this movie.

One and a half stars

Had the guy sitting next to me not had the laugh of a drunken clown, the movie would have been much less entertaining and therefore received only one star. I'm dedicating a half star partly because of him.

The beginning of the movie starts off interestingly enough, but after the first 10 minutes it seems as if nothing else is going to happen. At one point in the movie, the ship gets stuck somewhere in the earth and one of the characters states, "This ship isn't going anywhere." I thought to myself, "Well neither is this plot."

I feel like the script tried to make the characters deep and meaningful and I'm sure they wanted us to feel sorry for them and care for them, but all I saw was a bunch of actors pretending to be astronauts.

Overall, I felt this movie was a bad Armageddon rip-off and you'll soon find it on video sitting on a Wal-Mart clearance rack near you.
