Now, if the only Mexican food you are familiar with involves going through the drive-up window at midnight, you may not know what to expect. You're in for a treat. True sit-down Mexican is NOT greasy and it's not overly spiced, unless you ask for it that way, and El Torero serves true, authentic Mexican cuisine.

From their extensive menu, I chose one of their combination-dinners. I've wanted to try the chili rellenos, but not knowing if I'd like them got a combo that also included an enchilada and a taco. After nearly filling up on chips and home made salsa (a definite risk you run at El Torero -the salsa is so good you just keep eating) the "real" food arrived. Well the taco was great, probably contains some kind of top-secret addictive ingredient that makes it necessary to come back for more. The enchilada was very good, although I must say I have been know to make better (shhhhh don't let that get out, I might have to cook).

The chili rellenos, what can I say, I think I've found a new favorite. A chili pepper with some kind of cheese concoction in it. Remember that cartoon dog that used to float up in the air, then gently sink to the ground whenever he got his favorite treat? That's chili rellenos for me. My only disappointment being that I didn't see a whole meal of chili rellenos on the menu. They are rather rich and filling.

So if you want an authentic Mexican dinner, good value for your money, and a relaxing place to sit down and eat, check out El Torero. They're located in Cape's Town Plaza and also have a second location in Jackson for your convenience.

Just stay away from the chili rellenos... they're all MINE!
