DECEMBER 9,10,16,17: Glenn House Christmas Tour: Cape's historic Glenn House opens its doors for the holiday season with tours on Saturdays and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. The house will be decorated in holiday style.

DECEMBER 10 Nature's Decor: The Conservation Campus Nature Center at Cape County Park North will host a program for adults only called "Nature's Decor," from 1 to 3 p.m. Participants will learn to create holiday decorations and gifts using materials found in nature. DECEMBER 16 Contra Dance: The friends of old time music and dance invite you to learn the old ways from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church. No dancing experience is necessary, since dances are taught before being performed to music.

DECEMBER 16 Book reading: Missouri-based children's author Sara Ann Denson will read from her latest book "Christmas Turtles" at 11 a.m. at Barnes and Noble Booksellers The story is set in the Southeast Missouri countryside. For more information call 335-0522.

DECEMBER 30, 31 Cat show: Pedigreed and household cats will invade the A.C. Brase Arena Building for a cat show sponsored by the Pfanciers United For Fun, Inc. Evening Winter Hike: The Conservation Campus Nature Center will host an evening winter hike starting at 6:30 p.m. at its location in Cape County Park North. The evening will end with hot drinks and snacks around the campfire. For more information call (573) 290-5858.

Dec. 1 to Jan. 21

The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Art will host its annual Faculty Exhibition in the Southeast Missouri Regional Museum on the university campus. The exhibition includes work from 12 university art faculty members in a variety of styles and media. For more information call 651-2260.

Dec. 10

The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri will host the annual Children's Arts Festival at Academic Hall Auditorium on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University. A concert will take place at 3 p.m. featuring students from throughout the area, and children's art will be on display at 30 N. Main St. The event is sponsored by Southeast Missouri Hospital.
