The City of Roses Music Festival kicks off tonight with a schedule of bands that organizers are calling one of the most diverse musical offerings in the festival's 10-year history. Bands will perform on three outdoor stages downtown -- on Themis Street, on Broadway and at the Cape Girardeau Convention and Visitors Bureau parking lot. The majority of the nearly 50 bands on outdoor stages are local, but some acts from outside the area will play. Downtown bars will also book their own acts during the two nights of the festival.
