For a bit of entertainment in the outdoors the First-ever Fifth Annual Louis J. Lorimier Memorial Downtown Golf Tournament and All-You-Can-Eat Catfish Buffet will be Sunday. Registration starts at 12:30 p.m. and players tee off at 1:30. A tournament that started as a joke with the Southeast Missourian's then-editor Joe Sullivan, the event has grown into a treasured fundraiser for the Cape Girardeau Parks and Recreation Louis Lorimier Red House Foundation. Players use one club, usually a 5 iron, and hit BirdieBalls off protective pads down alleyways and around historic markers in downtown Cape Girardeau. The BirdieBalls are designed to mimic the feel of a golf ball when hit, but don't fly as far. Make sure to account for the wind. Entry fee is $25 and includes the catfish buffet. Sign up early at the Arena Building or Convention and Visitors Bureau.
