Best Bet 1/9/15: Handel's 'Messiah' concerts

The Messiah Choir performances of choruses and solos from "The Messiah" and other selections will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Friedheim, Missouri, and at 3 p.m. Jan. 18 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The concert begins with preconcert music at 2:45 p.m. The Trinity Ringers will be the featured music group, and the Trinity Brass will accompany hymns. Vicki Boren is the director of the Messiah Choir. Messiah soloists will be Dr. Trudy Lee, Patti McPheeters, Don Presson, Eric Scott and Elizabeth Shelton. A freewill offering will be taken for a scholarship fund to promote musicianship among youths. Refreshments will be served following the concert.
