The Chamber Music Sundays at Three concert series will open its 10th season with the Lilla Akademien Duo on Sept. 30. The concert is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the Shuck Music Recital Hall at Southeast Missouri State University's River Campus. Performing the concert will be Ulrika Edstrom on cello and Michael Tsalka on piano. The duo will feature sonatas by Bach, Beethoven and Ollmann. In addition to her orchestral life in the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, Edstrom also performs regularly as a soloist and chamber musician and teaches cello and ensemble at the music school Lilla Akademien in Stockholm. Tsalka performs solo and chamber music repertoire from the Baroque to the Contemporary periods on the modern piano, harpsichord, fortepiano, clavichord, square piano and positive organ. He often presents master classes and lectures around the world. He, too, teaches at Lilla Akademien in Stockholm. The work of photographer Thomas Ertman will be featured in October at the Mozaic Art Studio in the Bilderbach Art Plaza, 5 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. An artist reception will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 5 at the studio. The theme for his show is "Exposure: An Experiment in Light and Memory." SIKESTON, Mo. -- Christian recording artist Phil Wickham will be in concert at 6 p.m. Sunday at First United Methodist Church, 1307 N. Main St., in Sikeston. Wickham has had many chart-topping worship songs over the past few years, including "Safe." Opening for him will be Rick Warren's worship leader, Travis Ryan, from Saddleback Church in California. The Cape Girardeau County Genealogical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center in Jackson. The program will be given by Ellen M. Ryan, digital project manager in Special Collections and Archives at Southeast Missouri State University's Kent Library. Her topic will be "Confluence and Crossroads: the Civil War in the American Heartland," which is a collaboration among Kent Library's Special Collections, the Special Collections Research Center at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, the Cape Girardeau County Archive Center, the Center for Regional History and Southeast's Department of History. The project seeks to digitize documents, photographs and other records related to the Civil War in Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois. Bark in the Park will take place from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Shelter 1 in Capaha Park. There will be doggie contests that are free with registration, including competitions for the best beg, the largest and smallest dogs, best costume and best trick. A lunch of hot dogs, chips, a cookie and a drink is free with registration. Donations will be accepted for additional lunches.
