Buckner opens art show in new Riverview Room

Buckner Brewing Company will hold the grand opening of its third floor Riverview Room banquet hall today at 4 p.m., with an art show opening following from 6 to 11 p.m. The show will feature a variety of art styles from the local Modest Living Artists Group. First Friday opening at Gallery 1.2.5

Gallery 1.2.5, 125 Main St. in Cape Girardeau, will hold a First Friday opening reception today from 4 to 8 p.m. with wine and hors d'oeuvres. The gallery features a unique collection of oils, prints and accessories. The gallery will feature a completely new collection of oil paintings.

Pottery guild sells works to benefit Humane Society

The River's Edge Pottery Guild will participate in First Friday events this month with a display inside Grace Cafe at the corner of Broadway and Pacific Street. Three members will display their works for sale, accompanied by pet food dishes made by members participating in the Potters 4 Pets Program. Acrylics to be featured at The Artist Studio

The Artist Studio, 38A N. Main St., will feature a First Friday opening reception tonight from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The opening will feature an exhibit called "Acrylics," made in the studio's artist workshop. Peruvian sculptor, painter exhibits in Paducah

PADUCAH, Ky. -- Miguel Angel Velit, a prominent Peruvian painter and sculptor, will exhibit at O Gallery, 614 Madison St., from Wednesday through Sept. 19, with an opening reception Sept. 10 from 1 to 9 p.m. The exhibit, called "Imaginary Maps of the World," features a series of paintings inspired by the painter's world travels. River City Rodders plan car show Sept. 18

Garrison Keillor, Southern Illinois Symphony perform

CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Garrison Keillor, famous for his work on public radio in shows like "A Prairie Home Companion," will grace the stage at Carbondale's Shryock Auditorium Oct. 3. Keillor will deliver a lecture called "Lake Wobegon Days," followed by a book signing. The Southern Illinois Symphony's 2005-2006 series will open Sept. 27 with "Mozart and Three Tenors," featuring international tenors Carlo Scibelli, Michael Sommese and Daniel Montenegro. Events set at Ozark Riverways, Wappapello

Lake Wappapello and the Ozark Scenic Riverways have scheduled events including art shows, a yard sale and free concerts scheduled for the Labor Day weekend. At Lake Wappapello, the Buzzard Run Bluegrass Band will take the stage Friday night at 6:30 p.m. at the Lake Wappapello Outdoor Theatre, with gospel bluegrass act Just Us performing at the same time Saturday. Market House opens 42nd season with 'Beehive'
