Buckner opens art show in new Riverview Room
Buckner Brewing Company will hold the grand opening of its third floor Riverview Room banquet hall today at 4 p.m., with an art show opening following from 6 to 11 p.m. The show will feature a variety of art styles from the local Modest Living Artists Group. Gallery 1.2.5, 125 Main St. in Cape Girardeau, will hold a First Friday opening reception today from 4 to 8 p.m. with wine and hors d'oeuvres. The gallery features a unique collection of oils, prints and accessories. The gallery will feature a completely new collection of oil paintings.
The River's Edge Pottery Guild will participate in First Friday events this month with a display inside Grace Cafe at the corner of Broadway and Pacific Street. Three members will display their works for sale, accompanied by pet food dishes made by members participating in the Potters 4 Pets Program. The Artist Studio, 38A N. CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Garrison Keillor, famous for his work on public radio in shows like "A Prairie Home Companion," will grace the stage at Carbondale's Shryock Auditorium Oct. 3. Keillor will deliver a lecture called "Lake Wobegon Days," followed by a book signing. The Southern Illinois Symphony's 2005-2006 series will open Sept. 27 with "Mozart and Three Tenors," featuring international tenors Carlo Scibelli, Michael Sommese and Daniel Montenegro.
