Theater department opens season Sept. 29
The Southeast Missouri State University Department of Theatre and Dance will open its 2006-2007 season Sept. 29 with its production of the classic comedy "Noises Off." "Noises Off" is the story of a play put on by a bumbling theater troupe. The production will run at 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29 and 30 and Oct. 5 through 7; and at 2 p.m. Oct. 8 at the Rose Theatre. Trails of Tears State Park and Bollinger Mill State Historic Site will play host to two fall folk concerts sponsored by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources on Saturday and Sunday. The concerts -- 7 p.m. Saturday at Trail of Tears and 4:30 p.m. Sunday at Bollinger Mill -- will feature Wil Maring and Robert Bowlin. The Sundays at Three chamber music series will open its fourth season at 3 p.m. Sept. 24 at Old St. Vincent's Church in Cape Girardeau. The opening program will feature a number of arias from operas and oratorios by Handel as well as classic German and French work, along with a contemporary selection by Vogel titled "The Devil's Songbook." The Cape Girardeau Bicentennial Pictorial Photography Contest exhibit will travel to locations throughout Cape Girardeau through the end of the year. The exhibit is on display now through Oct. 4 at the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce, during November at city hall and during December at the Cape Girardeau Public Library.
