Amelia Royko performs Tunes at Twilight

Amelia Royko, a musician based in Madison, Wis., will play at Tunes at Twilight at 6:30 p.m. tonight at the Common Pleas Courthouse gazebo. Royko, the niece of well-known Chicago columnist Mike Royko, was named best female vocalist at this year's first Madison Area Music Awards in Madison. Her last album was 2003's "Sharp Steel Pinafore."

Fantasy to play at River City Yacht Club

The St. Louis-based band Fantasy were the first band to play at Port Cape's River City Yacht Club in 1990 and in the 14 years following have made yearly appearances. The band performs tonight from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Fantasy has another tie to Cape Girardeau -- the band's trumpet player, Jim Manley, is a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University.

Fair times ahead in Anna, Ill., city park

ANNA, Ill. -- The 124th Union County Fair starts today at the Anna City Park in Anna, Ill. and runs until Aug. 28. Highlights include horse shows, the Union County fair queen pageant, tractor pulls, a pet parade, livestock judging, championship rodeo and demolition derby.

City of Roses Festival volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed to help organize this year's City of Roses Music Festival, said coordinator Doc Cain. While the annual festival is still scheduled to take place the last weekend in September, Cain said it is in its early planning stages and suffering from lack of organizational support. Charlie Brown, friends come to Sikeston

SIKESTON, Mo. -- The Peanuts gang will be entertaining audiences starting at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 26 when Sikeston Little Theatre's production of "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" opens at the Albritton-Mayer Cultural Center, 506 S. Kingshighway in Sikeston. The production's actors are all adults and the production follows a day in the life of Charlie Brown and includes several musical numbers. In addition to its Aug. 26 debut, the production will be shown at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 27 and Aug. 28 and at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 29. For more information, contact the theatre at (573) 481-0255.
