Broadway extravaganza comes to Cape Girardeau

Ste. Genevieve celebrates the 38th annual Jour de Fete from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. The Stone Hill Winery in Hermann, Mo., is having its 27th annual Grape Stomp on Saturday to raise money for River Bluff Industries Inc., a not-for-profit workshop for the mentally and physically challenged. Cash prizes will be awarded in stomping competitions in all age groups. There will also be prizes awarded to the winners of the Grand Stomp-Off and the Grand Style Stomp-Off. Quilt Appraisal Day on tap at Paducah museum
Members of the public can have their quilts appraised at the Museum of the American Quilter's Society in Paducah, Ky., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday as part of the museum's Quilt Appraisal Day. This is a fund-raising event for the museum and the proceeds go to preserving the museum's Founders Collection of Quilts. A professional appraisal of a quilt involves a description of the quilt in terms of pattern, fabrics, techniques, quality of construction, condition, confirmation of information by current owner, replacement value and an approximate day of quilt. Creations from the Cat Ranch at Sikeston Depot
Artist and Sikeston, Mo., native Tom Runnels published two books, "Before TV" and "Slipshod but Not Shabby" before he died in 2000 and the Sikeston Depot Museum has some of his artwork on display until Aug. 27. On Monday, his widow Sandy Runnels will present a program about her late husband for the Depot Lecture Series. The museum will also display rodeo artifacts and rare antique saddles as part of its "Cowboy Up!" exhibit. The Sikeston Depot Museum is located at 116 W. Jackson Homecomers offering talent show
Starting Tuesday, the Jackson Homecomers Celebration will feature five days of nightly entertainment. Things kick off with the Homecomers Talent Show at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and ends with an 8 p.m. queen contest Aug. 21. All the activities will be held on the stage in front of the Jackson courthouse.
