Musical artists Rod Picott and Amanda Shires will play a house concert at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 in Cape Girardeau. The show will be at the Underberg House, which can accommodate 40 people. Picott and Shires will perform songs off their duet album "Sew Your Heart With Wires." The pair will also give brief solo performances. The Dirty 30s will travel from St. Louis to rock Breakaways at 9 p.m. Saturday. The band's lead singer, Jason Riley, and drummer, Stu Farris, are both Cape Girardeau natives. Mike Dumey's "Sing, America, Sing" opens at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6 in the Plaza Conference Center. Dumey, a Cape Girardeau Central Junior High School choir director, will showcase the musical talents of eight area teens. At least five are returning talents from past Dumey-directed events. The performance will follow a buffet catered by Ray's of Kelso. Tickets for the event cost $35. The show will be Aug. 6, 7, 13, 14, 15, 20, 21, 27 and 28. Ten percent discount days are Aug. 6 and 15.
