Members of the River Region Photography Association will be in charge of the Saturday Social from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 19 at the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri, 34 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. They will present Photography 101, a photography workshop. Association president Dan Buckenmeyer invites participants to bring digital cameras to the social, where useful tips will be given on capturing the best image. The work of association members is on display at the Arts Council this month.
The Southeast Chamber Music Inistitute at Southeast Missouri State University will present its third annual chamber music recitals at the River Campus on July 14 and 19. The recitals are free and open to the public. At 7:30 p.m. July 14, Chamber Institute faculty will present a concert in the Shuck Music Recital Hall. The featured performer will be violin virtuoso Liesl Schoenberger. Concluding the Chamber Institute's weeklong program of chamber studies will be a performance in Shuck Hall at 2 p.m. July 19, which will feature student chamber music ensembles. That concert will include a performance by the Southeast Chamber Orchestra. The Southeast Chamber Music Institute provides an intensive summer program for intermediate to advanced musicians, with ages ranging from high school to college.
