Celebrations Downtown will host a tasting of more than 50 domestic and imported craft beers from breweries like Founders Brewing Co., Left Hand Brewing Co., Southern Tier Brewing Co. and more. During July, the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will be exhibiting "Captured Beauty of Missouri's Nature," photography by Alex Forster. The center will host Conservation Cafe with Forster, where he will speak about the perspectives of his photography. The cafe will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday at 2289 County Park Drive. Registration is required for the conservation cafe talk, and individuals attending must be at least 8 years old. MARBLE HILL, Mo.--The Bollinger County Museum of Natural History is exhibiting the only dinosaur fossils found in Missouri. The dinosaur fossils were found in 1942, and scientists searched the area for many years for more traces of the dinosaur. In 1999 the dig project became known as the Missouri Ozark Dinosaur Project Inc. To this day dinosaur fossils as well as turtle, fish and amphibian fossils are found at the dig site. Other exhibits on display at the museum are Lewis and Clark, local Civil War history, Will Mayfield memorabilia and more. Admission to the museum is $2 for adults and $1 for anyone 18 and younger. The museum is open from noon to 4:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and on every first Sunday of the month at 207 Mayfield Drive in Marble Hill.
BLOOMFIELD, Mo. -- The BloomHeavy HammockRide music festival will feature more than 13 bands on a single stage from noon today to Saturday night on land off Highway 25 just north of Bloomfield. The two-day festival -- organized in honor of Dr. Robert H. Skelton, a former Southeast Missouri State University faculty member -- will feature bands playing bluegrass, country, blues and rock. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Stars and Stripes Museum of Bloomfield in Skelton's name. Tickets for the all-ages festival are $15 for the weekend and include a camping site. The River City Players will hold open auditions for the play "Panic" by Joseph Goodrich. The play, which won the Mystery Writers of America's Edgar Award for best new play in 2008, is a story of blackmail and backstabbing that percolates the new relationship between a film director and a critic. The group has parts for two men and four women. Auditions are from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Port Cape.
