Car show at Memorial Park in Oran, Mo. Saturday

ORAN, Mo. -- The 17th Annual Oran Car Show will be held tomorrow at the Tilles Memorial City Park on Greer Street in Oran. The event, one of the area's largest car shows, is sponsored by the Oran Chamber of Commerce, along with Stockade Buildings and Animal Nutrition Center. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and continues until 1 p.m. The U.S. Auto Sound Competition International Contest will start at noon. At 4 p.m., trophies will be awarded for three places in 52 classes. A trailer will be given away, as well as attendance prizes. For more information, call Ed Evans at 573-275-3310.

Roller girls present final event Big Hits Under the Big Top

The Cape Girardeau Roller Girls will hold the final intraleague event -- Big Hits Under the Big Top -- before travel season begins June 9 at the Arena Building in Cape Girardeau. This will be the last chance to see the Faultline Fighters and Broadway Brawlers face off until November's annual Capetown Smackdown. After June 9, the roller girls will travel and host visiting teams. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the event starting at 7 p.m. Tickets are $7 in advance and are available at Cape Girardeau Honda, PMac Music, Pitter's Mud House, from roller girls and online at www.brownpapertickets.com. Tickets are $9 at the door. Children 5 and younger get in free. This bout is sponsored by Cape Girardeau Honda, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit Southeast Hospice. Everyone is invited to Pitter's on Broadway for the after-party.
