'Plan 9' to be performed Saturday

A stage adaptation of "Plan 9 From Outer Space," a cult-classic film known to many as "the worst movie ever made," will be presented by Acting Out! after the close of the Comic Con for the day at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Osage Centre, 1625 N. Guitar concert scheduled

The Southeast Missouri State University guitar department will host a spring concert at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Shuck Music Recital Hall at the River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau. The performance is free and will include feature works for solo classical guitar, as well as chamber pieces for guitar with voice and flute.

Cape Farmers Market to open

The Cape Girardeau Farmers Market will have its opening day from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday at the West Park Mall parking lot, 3049 William St. in Cape Girardeau. The open-air market includes fruits, vegetables, agricultural products and more and will be open every Thursday at the same time through Nov. 17.

Bon Jovi tribute band to play

"Keep the Faith: Quintessential Bon Jovi" will have shows at 7 and 11 p.m. Friday, April 22, at the Isle Casino Cape Girardeau Event Center, 777 N. Main St. in Cape Girardeau. General admission tickets cost $15, and attendees must be at least 21 years old. Tickets may be purchased at the gift shop or online at www.tinyurl.com/zxaw7z8. All ticket sales are final and will be available for pickup beginning at 4 p.m. the day of the show at will call.

Easter concert to be presented

The Perry County Lutheran Chorale will perform an Easter concert, "The Lord is My Shepherd," at 7 p.m. Friday, April 22, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 223 W. Adams St. in Jackson. The event is free and will feature anthems by the Chorale and Kantorei of St. Paul.

Painting the Midwest exhibit planned

A "Painting the Midwest" art exhibit will be on display from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 22 and 23 and from 1 to 5 p.m. April 24 at the Robinson Construction Francis E. Robinson Event Center, 2411 Walters Lane in Perryville, Missouri. An exhibit preview will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday, also at the event center. Tickets for the preview are $25 and include hors d'oeuvres and a complimentary drink. The exhibit is free and open to the public. Lux Aeterna to show at River Campus

Lux Aeterna, an ethereal piece created by Morten Lauridsen, will be performed at 7:30 p.m. April 26 in the Bedell Performance Hall at the River Campus, 518 S. Fountain St. in Cape Girardeau. The concert will be performed by the Southeast Missouri State University Symphony, the University Choir and the Choral Union. A piece by award-winning composer and Southeast professor Robert Fruehwald will be played to open the concert. Tickets are $16 or $19, depending on seat location, and may be purchased at the River Campus box office, online at www.rivercampusevents.com/symphony or by calling (573) 651-2265.

Old Town Cape issues call for musicians

Old Town Cape and the Downtown Cape Girardeau Community Improvement District have teamed up to create Cape Corner Concerts, a series of outdoor street-corner concerts to be performed at various locations throughout downtown Cape Girardeau. The hope for the series is to increase the vibrancy of the downtown area while also creating a platform for local musical artists and performers.
