Musicians to perform at Rolwing celebration
Friends and faculty of the Department of Music at Southeast Missouri State University will present a concert celebrating the Golden Jubilee of the ordination of Monsignor Richard Rolwing Sunday.
The concert will begin at 3 p.m. at Old St. Vincent's Church. Admission is free.
Musicians participating include Marc Fulgham, Chadie Fruehwald, Dr. Leslie Jones, Dr. Gary Miller, Kirk Miller, Mary Miller, Liesl Schoenberger, Lori Shaffer and Dr. James Sifferman.
'Sylvia' auditions Monday, Tuesday
Open auditions for the River City Players production of "Sylvia" will be held Monday and Tuesday at Port Cape restaurant, 19 N. Water St.
The play is a comedy about a man, his wife and the stray dog he loves. The cast includes three males and three females.
Auditions will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. each day and require no preparation.

'Fiddler on the Roof' at Sikeston theater
SIKESTON, Mo. -- "Fiddler on the Roof" is playing at the Albritton Mayer Center for the Arts, 406 S. Kingshighway in Sikeston.
The musical is a production of the Sikeston Little Theatre.
Shows are at 7:30 tonight and Saturday, at 2 p.m. Sunday, at 7:30 p.m. March 7 and 8 and at 2 p.m. March 9.
Admission is $6 in advance by calling the theater at 481-0255. Tickets at the door are $7.50.
Chapman exhibition at Anna Center
ANNA, Ill. -- Art by Dr. Jean Chapman of Cape Girardeau will be on display during March at the Anna Center at Shawnee Community College.
Central orchestras to perform
The Central High School Orchestra and Freshman Orchestra will perform Tuesday in the Commons Area at the high School.
The concert will begin at 7 p.m.
Arts council seeks proposals for classes
The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is seeking proposals for its annual Summer Arts Classes.
The classes are intended to offer access to students of all ages to materials and experiences not readily available in the school systems.
Proposals must be received at the arts council office, 32 N. Main St., no later than March 19.
The $500 salary is based in a three-hour class each day for one week. Adjustments will be made for shorter or longer classes. Classes will be offered between late May and the end of July.
Proposals must include an outline of the course curriculum, maximum number of students, age range of students, date available to teach, classroom space needed and supply list.
Core classes include drawing, ceramics, painting, murals and sculpture. Students also have requested courses in printmaking, graphic design, jewelry making, candlemaking, collage, theater, illustration and storytelling. Courses for adults and seniors also are encouraged.
This year, the SEMO Alliance for Disability Independence will provide aides for students with disabilities who want to enroll in a class.

Doctors vs. Lawyers game March 7
The 10th annual Doctors vs. Lawyers Basketball Showdown will begin at 8 p.m. March 7 at the Notre Dame High School gym.
Proceeds will benefit the Community Counseling Center Foundation.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12.
A pre-game tailgate party and silent auction will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Drury Lodge. Tickets are $20, which includes admission to the game. Phone 334-1100 for information.
Imago's Frogz at SIU March 28
CARBONDALE, Ill. -- Imago's Frogz, a show that premiered on Broadway in 2000, will be presented March 28 at Shryock Auditorium.
The show combines mime, movement and masks in what the New York Times called "a madcap revue."
Admission is $18 with a $6 discount for children 15 and younger.

Organist to play March 9
Organist Dr. Steven Wente will be featured in "I Too Shall Praise You!," a concert celebrating Saxony Lutheran High School and Lutheran Schools week.
The concert will be presented at 2 p.m. March 9 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 100 N. Frederick St. in Cape Girardeau.
Wente is a professor of music and organist to the Chapel of Our Lord at Concordia University River Forest in Illinois. He will perform works by J.S. Bach, Mendelssohn, Dupre and Vierne along with other composers. There is no admission, but an offering will be taken.
Cyrus Chestnut Trio at Jazz at the Bistro
ST. LOUIS -- The Cyrus Chestnut Trio will perform March 19-22 at Jazz at the Bistro.
Chestnut has played with Jon Hendricks, Betty Carter, Wynton Marsalis, Terrence Blanchard and Donald Harrison. His piano playing blends gospel, classical bebop and stride with a bit of funk.
Tickets are $23 and $28, and $10 for students.

Muny auditions scheduled
ST. LOUIS -- Auditions for The Muny's 2003 Adult Singing and Dancing Ensembles have been scheduled.
Male singers will audition March 15, with Equity performers trying out at 10:30 a.m. and non-equity performers auditioning at 11 p.m. Callbacks will be held at 1:30 p.m. March 16.
Auditions for the male dancers will be held at the same times March 15. Callbacks will be at 10 a.m. March 15.
All singers must be at least 18 years old. They should bring sheet music in the desired key. An accompanist will be provided.
Auditions for female singers will be held March 15, with Equity performers scheduled at 1 p.m. and non-Equity performers at 1:30 p.m. Callbacks will be at 3 p.m. March 16.
Auditions for female dancers will be March 15, with Equity performers scheduled at 1:30 p.m. and non-Equity performers at 2 p.m. Callbacks will be at 11:30 a.m. March 16.
All dancers must be at least 17 years old. They should bring tap and jazz shoes, toe and ballet slippers and rehearsal clothing. They also should bring sheet music in the desired key in case also asked to sing.
The auditions will be held at the Performing Arts Center at St. Louis University High School, 4970 Oakland Ave.
The Muny is casting the shows "Fiddler on the Roof," "Side by Side by Sondheim," "Show Boat," "Cinderella," "Godspell," "Crazy for You" and "South Pacific."
