This is the last weekend to see art from area high schoolers displayed in the Crisp Museum at the River Campus for the Annual High School Art Exhibit. High school juniors and seniors from Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois were judged and 90 pieces of sculpture, paintings, drawings and fibers were accepted. Visit the show until Sunday.

Cadmium River Group hosts first show

Twelve different artists from around the area have joined to form the Cadmium River Group. The group will open a new exhibit in Global Cafe in the neighboring gallery/studio space. The opening is from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday. There will be a buffet dinner from the Global Cafe and about 100 different pieces of art for sale. Tickets are $10 per person, free for children 10 and younger. Make reservations by calling Global Cafe at 334-7955 and ask to speak to Cori or Ray.

Homecoming festivities planned at Three Rivers

Three Rivers Community College homecoming starts at 6 p.m. Saturday. The Three Rivers Jazz Band under the direction of Buddy White will play pre-game music for the court: Tiffany Danielle Glastetter of Oran, Mo.; Bobbie Jones of Jackson; Whitney Modlin of Campbell, Mo.; Rachel Williams of Caldwell, Mo.; and Dede Whitlow of Jackson. Tickets for drawings and contests will be on sale. All homecoming activities will be held in the Arrettia & Herschel Bess Activity Center on the Three Rivers campus. Admission to the game is $3 for adults and $2 for children; Three Rivers students are admitted free with a valid college ID.

Southeast hosts day hike this weekend

Southeast Missouri State University's recreation services will lead a free, guided day hike on Sheppard Point Trail. Be ready for a rigorous two-mile hike, ascending to the top of a bluff that overlooks the Mississippi River. The hike starts at 2 p.m. at the Student Recreation Center North upper parking lot. River City Players present abridged Shakespeare

There will be a special, one-night presentation of "The Compleat Wrks of Wllm Shkspr," which features William Shakespeare's works -- abridged, of course. The River City Players will run through all the master's works at 7 p.m. Feb. 29 at Port Cape's River City Yacht Club. Tickets are $10 at the door.
