Book celebrates Ozark water mills

In the rerelease of his book recounting the stories of 20 Ozark water mills, Southeast Missouri State University professor emeritus of history George G. Suggs Jr., provides a glimpse of the past. "Water Mills of the Missouri Ozarks" describes the evolution of water mills from Europe to North America and the social roles they played in the early life of the Missouri Ozarks. Department of Mental Health art on display

The Director's Creativity Showcase features art created as part of therapy or for recreation by people receiving services for developmental disabilities, mental illness or substance abuse. The traveling exhibit will be in Farmington at the St. Francois County Library through Saturday.

Illinois State Museum issues call for artists

The Illinois State Museum is soliciting applications from Illinois artists to participate in the Illinois Artisans Program, which tries to bring statewide and national recognition to arts in Illinois. Artists must submit an application, 6 to 10 slides, an artist statement, one-page resume, self-addressed stamped envelope and a $20 application fee made out to IAP. Deadline is March 28.
