Garden Gallery to host Christmas Open House

Humanities Council offers touring exhibit
The Missouri Humanities Council is asking cultural organizations to apply for an appearance by the touring exhibit New Harmonies from the Smithsonian Institution. The exhibit will visit six rural Missouri communities. New Harmonies explores American music from its roots to the modern day. Those interested in the exhibit can call 800-357-0909. Applications are due Dec. 30.
Arts council calls for young artists
The Arts Council of Southeast Missouri is seeking artists between the ages of 18 and 30 for its new Young Emerging Artists Exhibition taking place in February. Entries must be original works created in any fine art media and produced within the last three years. Entry fee is $5 for unlimited entries and must be received by Dec. 15. Eight state parks will close for deer hunts
The Missouri Department of Natural Resources will temporarily close eight state parks for public safety purposes in December to accommodate special deer hunts. The hunts are being used as ways to manage the deer population. The parks include: Dr. Edmund A. Babler Memorial State Park, near Wildwood, closed Dec. 8 and 9; Crowder State Park near Trenton, Dec. 8 and 9; Cuivre River State Park near Troy, Dec. 8 and 9; Knob Noster State Park on Dec. 15 and 16; Pershing State Park near Laclede on Dec. 1 and 2; St. Joe State Park in Park Hills, Dec. 8 and 9; Watkins Woolen Mill State Park and Historic Site near Lawson, Dec. 8 and 9; and Weston Bend State Park near Weston, Dec. 8 and 9.
