CHARLESTON, Mo. -- A free Christmas concert will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Charleston. Musicians will be Terry A. Parker, organ; Sallie B. Goodin, piano; Lydia Eddy Holton, cello, and the Sam C. and Jane Goodin Memorial Handbell Choir. Vocalists will be Mary Katherine Branum, soprano, and Kerry Davis, baritone. Special guest soloist will be Anne Bird Moore-Meyer, daughter of Joseph H. and Martha Pierceall Moore.
SIKESTON, Mo. -- "Annie Jr.," a show based on the beloved Broadway musical but adapted for young performers, is showing at the Sikeston Little Theatre at the Albritton-Mayer Cultural Center. Bil Lepp and Kevin Kling will be the guest artists at "An Afternoon and Evening of Humorous Storytelling: Where the River Turns a Thousand Hilarious Tales" on Jan. 20. Southeast Missouri Music Academy student Elizabeth Ansberry was named runner-up in the Missouri Music Teachers Association eighth-grade piano competition Nov. 6 in St. Joseph, Mo. Ansberry is the daughter of Bill and Stephanie Ansberry and is homeschooled. She studies with Academy director Rebecca Fulgham. Ansberry performed Mozart's Sonata in D Major and Khachaturian's Toccata. She also studies violin at the Academy with Dr. Brandon Christensen.
