Auditions for The River City Players' follies will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Port Cape Girardeau in the Yacht Club. Acts of all kind are welcome, including music, dancing, poetry or other readings, juggling, comedy, magic and more. Sound equipment won't be available for the auditions, so people auditioning will have to bring their own music or player. You must be 21 to audition. River City Players also will be casting couples to perform in its own version of the Carol Burnett/Harvey Korman classic "Old Folks" skits. The follies will run Nov. 5 to 8.

Grants workshop at library

A grant information workshop, which will teach participants how to navigate the Missouri Arts Council grant process, will be from 10 a.m. to noon Thursday at the Cape Girardeau Public Library, 711 N. Clark Ave. The workshop is free, but those attending are asked to register at www.tinyurl.com/nj6aoh6. Eligible organizations unfamiliar with the grant application process, or that previously applied and received unsatisfactory panel scores, are urged to attend. The deadline for annual Missouri Arts Council grants for fiscal year 2017 is Feb. 29, 2016. In addition, at the workshop items for the council's 50th anniversary time capsule will be accepted.
