Special programming honors black artists
@SL_body_copy_ragged:KRCU has planned special programs commemorating Black History Month to air at 9 a.m. each Sunday in February. The broadcast schedule is "Lady Writes The Blues: The Rose Marie Mccoy Story" on Sunday, "Memories of the Movement: A Black History Month Special" on Feb. 8, "My Song, My Story: Kool & The Gang" on Feb. 15 and "Women Of The Harlem Renaissance" on Feb. 22.
Clarinet concert features 'Oldies but Goodies'
@SL_body_copy_ragged:The Roadkill Clarinet Quintet will play a concert of "Oldies But Goodies" in Shuck Recital Hall with a variety of songs -- from the overture from "The Marriage of Figaro" to pieces from "West Side Story." The players, Russell Coleman, Jim Gai, Steve Litwiller, John Patterson and Mark Smith, have all taught and played professionally. Michael Dean, professor of clarinet and saxophone at Southeast Missouri State University, will introduce the Roadkill Clarinet Quintet and perform a solo work for clarinet. Cabaret fundraiser takes over Riverview Room
@SL_body_copy_ragged:The SEMO University Players will hold a cabaret fundraiser to help pay for a trip to the Southeast Theatre Conference Annual Convention on March 4 to 8 in Birmingham, Ala. The Players will put on several skits, scenes and monologues while attendees wine and dine. Tickets are $30 at Buckner Brewing Co. or call 636-208-0754 for reservation. The cabaret will be 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 6.
