SIKESTON, Mo. -- Sikeston artist Lynn Lancaster was recently juried into the Oil Painters of America, an organization that provides a forum for oil painters to display their art in regional and national competitions. Lancaster represents Sweetgum Gallery in Sikeston. An exhibit of his work is on display this month at the Sikeston Depot Museum.
High school art exhibit opens Jan. 27
Southeast Missouri State University will host its annual High School Art Exhibition, now in its 30th year, beginning Jan. 27 at the Crisp Museum at the university's River Campus. A reception will take place from 2 to 4 p.m. Jan. 27 at the museum. Awards will be presented at 3 p.m.
Student art created for the Arts Council of Southeast Missouri's annual Children's Arts Festival is currently on display in the pediatric ward at Southeast Missouri Hospital and the lobby of US Bank on Kingshighway in Cape Girardeau. Exhibiting artists are from Cape Girardeau Central Middle School, Chaffee Elementary, Kelly, Nell Holcomb and Trinity Lutheran schools.
Tyler Montgomery, a Christian recording artist from Dexter, Mo., has been nominated as Male Vocalist of the Year, Contemporary Artist of the Year and for Album of the Year in the third annual IndieHeaven Momentum Awards. Foster McGinty to play Port Cape Jan. 25 and 26
