Some people would just send a card. But to thank their fans, local rock band Isabella invited them to be a part of the group's next music video.
Isabella will play a 13-song set at 7 p.m. today at Port Cape. They'll play the 10 songs we're all familiar with from iTunes plus three new ones.
They ask that fans wear white shirts and bring glowsticks. From there, just enjoy the show. The members bought "a crapload" of blacklights and plan to party.
A few friends of the band will film the concert and the craziness and cut it with story scenes for the final product -- and their film project for Southeast Missouri State University.
The new video will be for "Otterbox," which the band plans on pushing as the single from its next album, due out late this fall. The group recorded the song in Chicago but plans on putting the rest of the album down in St. Louis. Aside from "Otterbox," they have about five others ready to go.
The band has videos for two other songs, "When You're Gone" and "Cleveland." They want to keep feeding fans with more than just music. The videos provide them another promotional tool and a way to not only feature their fans, but also placate them with online extras.
The "Otterbox" video will feature a storyline cut with the crowd scenes from tonight's show, which has a $7 cover. Drummer Alex Bettinger said the band sees familiar Cape Girardeau faces at most of its shows whether they play in St. Louis, Columbia or Carbondale. He said the hometown participation and following deserves recognition. The video shoot serves as a visual shout-out.
