"Man of La Mancha" will be featured as part of the Southeast Missouri State University River Campus Touring Series at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in Bedell Performance Hall.
"Man of La Mancha" returns to the stage in this new production, complete with the Tony Award-winning score and book that has inspired theatergoers since the first note of "The Impossible Dream" was heard on opening night.
Bob Cerchio, assistant director at the River Campus, has a long history with this show.
"I remember seeing the original show on Broadway in the late '60s and sometime later being able to book it into my performing arts center," he said. "Now, presenting ‘Man of La Mancha' at the River Campus brings it full circle. The people of Southeast Missouri will have the opportunity to see a magnificent performance of a wonderful story."
The musical has the audience entering the mind and the world of Don Quixote as he pursues his quest for the impossible dream.
Against all odds, a man sees good and innocence in a world filled with darkness and despair.
The adventure is a tale of the triumph of man over his own follies.
