Todd and Cheryl Woodfin of Advance, Mo., announce the engagement of their daughter, Ashley Jeanette Woodfin, to Patrick Ryan VanGorkom, both of Cape Girardeau. He is the son of John and Kathleen VanGorkom of Pleasant Hill, Mo.

Woodfin is a 2005 graduate of Advance High School. She received a bachelor of science degree in biomedical science from Southeast Missouri State University in 2009, and completed the medical laboratory science graduate program at Southeast Hospital College of Nursing and Health Sciences in 2011. She is a medical laboratory scientist at Saint Francis Medical Center Clinical Laboratory.

VanGorkom is a 2001 graduate of Pleasant Hill High School. He received a bachelor of health science with emphasis in nuclear medicine from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2005. He is a nuclear medicine technologist at Saint Francis.

A June 9 wedding is planned at First Presbyterian Church in Cape Girardeau.
