Van Nostrand - Kopecky

Tom and Patricia Martin of Cape Girardeau and Curtis Van Nostrand of Lisbon, Ohio, announce the engagement of their daughter, Christina Marie Van Nostrand, to Walter John Kopecky III, both of Lawrence, Kan. He is the son of Dr. Walter and Valerie Kopecky II of Creve Coeur, Mo., and Susan Kopecky of Maryland Heights, Mo.

Van Nostrand is a 2000 graduate of Central High School. She received a bachelor of arts degree in music from Southeast Missouri State University in 2006, and a master of music degree in flute performance from the University of Kansas in 2012. She is a freelance flutist and private flute teacher in the Kansas City-Lawrence area, and is a radio announcer with Kansas Public Radio.

Kopecky received a degree in computer science from the University of Missouri-Rolla in 2006. He is a software engineer with Garmin International.

A Dec. 1 wedding is planned at Danforth Chapel in Lawrence.
