Michael and Kathleen Shivelbine of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Shivelbine, to David Winkler, both of Kirkwood, Mo. He is the son of Dr. William and Carol Winkler of Janesville, Wis.
Shivelbine is a 1997 graduate of Central High School, and received a bachelor of science degree from Truman State University in 2001. She is pursuing a Ph.D. in biology at St. Louis University.

Winkler is a 1996 graduate of Waterloo High School. He received a bachelor of science degree from Western Illinois University in 2000, a master of science from St. Louis University in 2002, and medical technologist certification from St. Louis University in 2004. He is a medical technologist at Quest Diagnostics in St. Louis.
A May 21 wedding is planned in Cape Girardeau.
