Shirrell - Roop

Clayton and Sherri Shirrell of Cape Girardeau announce the engagement of their daughter, Kristin Brooke Shirrell, to Jared Franklin Roop. He is the son of the Rev. Phillip and Denise Roop of Cape Girardeau.

Shirrell is a 2007 graduate of Central High School. She expects to receive a bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Missouri State University in Springfield in December. She is employed in the university's admissions office.

Roop is a 2007 graduate of Central High School. He expects to receive a master of science degree in chemistry from Missouri State University in May 2012. He is employed in the university's chemistry department.

An Aug. 7 wedding is planned at Bethel Assembly of God Church.
